Was running the wire for my 4lo TRAC mod and found this plug in connector near the pedals. Anyone know what it's for?

That looks to be the Hall effect sensor for the throttle control.

So it's supposed to be loose like that?
Or is something missing on this particular truck?

Not at all familiar with a hall sensor.

Or if it was a manual transmission connected to a switch on the clutch?

A Hall sensor is just sensor that uses the Hall effect, most often used in automotive applications to determine the motion and/or speed of something. Many modern cars make use of the Hall effect for crank and cam angle sensors.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect_sensor

But TBH, I'm not seeing how that comes into play here. I wouldn't think that the the accelerator position sensor would use a Hall effect sensor, and even if it did, I would assume that it would just be incorporated into the main sensor, using the same connector as the main sensor. But anything is possible, maybe @6 gearT444E knows better

FWIW, I have the same loose connector on my truck. It's possible it's for a sensor required on M/T Tacomas (e.g., clutch switch), as mines an A/T.

The accelerator pedal contains two hall effect sensors that convert pedal position to voltage signals which are sent to the ECM. There are CTS and denso brands.

Here is a CTS, note the hall effect sensor IC chip and decoupling capacitors. They separate the two accelerator position signals to the ECM

Green wire with yellow tracer? Parking brake switch on manual transmission vehicles.

You sure? Pull the plastic sleeve back, what color is wire? If you look above your parking brake there will likely be other connectors tied up in the same fashion.

Exactly, its a redundant connector if you don't have the pull park brake, it connects to nothing.

I agree with the others that it is the parking brake connector that is present but unused on an automatic truck because it uses the pedal for parking brake.

I would think that the Manual transmission truck has an unused connector over by the left kick panel.

Edited for correction in trans type...

I don’t know what it goes to.
But a member, just posted this an a different thread and I see a similar connector on his.
    His was a 2015 Auto.

Ignor the arrow, the connector is in the top left corner of the picture.

The connector on my truck is no where near the parking brake.

I noticed that, but your also looks to be taped up.
Basically, the point is, it’s not uncommon to have loose unused connectors.
I have one behind my dash, it goes to the VSC button that my truck DIDN’T come with.
