I don't think that statement is correct. I've seen quite a few different people win over the time I've been following and participating in this thread. Sometimes the winner is a newbie with a great cell phone pic and sometimes its someone who is seriously into photography using pro level gear. I've won, when I thought I should've lost and I've lost when I thought I should've have won? It's an art contest and those are always subjective at best.

The truth is this thread isn't about winning, it's about pushing yourself to create something, based on the theme within that week.

 

Maybe I am wrong. I jump in here only time to time so I only see bits and pieces so maybe I hop in when certain people have won which gives me a skewed view of everything. That statement was me being more sarcastic than anything else. I know there's more complexity to everything than what is on the surface. I.e. some people are looking for a humorous picture or take on the weekly challenge. The one that specifically comes to mind is the "what scares you" ( I think that's the correct name as it was a few months ago) where I think six5creed won for creating a trap for Taco critter. I posted a pic of something that truly does scare me.

I thought it was a serious what scares you and not a humourous one. Maybe it wasnt supposed to be humourous challenge but it was funny and really swayed him to pick the humorous one.

I do understand it's the luck of the draw and the best one is in the eyes of the judge and it's up to he or she who is chosen for that week. I know I understand this as I have entered and won in art contests many times!


I have tried to better my skills but I'm not a hardcore picture taker. Most of the things I post are just random crap I saw or on a few occasions I seeked out for the challenge. Heck I spent a whole week in high school (I'm 20 so that was only a few years ago) where we went all over the place to get pictures to learn about different styles and techniques. We went on a 3 hour or so ride into Wisconsin to get pics of ice castles being made!
So yes I've tried to better myself but not hardcore like maybe others have and that could be what makes the difference between me and those who win. They better themselves more than I do. I try not to get caught up in the whole I have to win so it stays fun.

Now I ask you: If I purely had my sights set on winning then why would I only post things occasionally?

Answer. I dont care if I win or not.

 

@Squirt its for fun, and up to "Your" interpretation of the weeks challenge. Thats Main reason there is not a designated person to judge. Ive had a tough choice when there was 2 or more i liked and having to choose 1. Mainly its all in fun to expand your picture taking skills and share some of yourself.

None of the memes i post are intended to be malicious. Mostly a poke at whoever hopefully no one takes it wrong. The photo thread moves quick. That is all

 

If I knew the post I made yesterday would turn into a debate I wouldn't have posted it as it was a fun thread. Some people took it as me being serious.

I do like this thread as generally its fun. I liked memeing @EldenRivas

Sorry, I guess I'm defensive about this thread. I truly enjoy it and want to do what I can to keep it going.

Your original post struck me as accusing it/us of rigging it so only certain people win. Since you were joking and I took it the wrong way I apologize. I just didn't want people to get the impression that you have to be in the clique to win/participate. I think I speak for all of us that regularly post that we are happy to see images from everyone.

 

That was one of the funniest things to happen on the thread.
