How often do you check your engine oil? Is the dip stick accurate?

Once a week, or every other week. Whenever I wash my truck, I pop the hood and give everything a wipe down and check the fluids while I'm there.

I'd say the dipstick is accurate. (Although everyone complains it's difficult to read) No issues here.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
The dipstick is not accurate. It's a known problem, but the dealer will deny it. The only accurate way to know is to install a catch can and measure how much is collected by it, subtract from the amount that you added at the last 2500 mile oil change interval, and then remember what it says on the backside of the instructions - take one kadam back to honor the Hebrew God whose truck this is.

i check it about once a week. i have no issues with the dipstick and it seems accurate. i drain the oil, refill with 6 quarts, and it reads full or close enough.

    I had an 18 and now a 20.
Both read just like the many cars I've owned...
Park level, pull dipstick, wipe, insert, remove, read. It's always within and 1/8" of full throughout the 5k miles...

Not sure what people mean by not accurate.

I've been wrenching on cars for over 50 years and I have never once seen a factory stock engine with an unmodified dipstick read incorrectly. What is the basis of your claim?

I installed a remote reading dipstick that sends an automatic signal to my iPhone every 5 seconds so I can continually monitor my oil level while driving. You know, for that peace of mind thing. It also does real-time oil specto-analysis of my oil and let's me know if I have excessive metallic wear product build up. It also has a bi-metalic heating element to keep my shut down oil temperature at a perfect 92.7 degrees to prevent excessive condensation from forming inside the engine.

Kind of expensive and not for everyone, but it works for me. Follow me for more exciting and fictitious Tacoma oil monitoring devices.

I hardly ever check my dipstick. Maybe once in a blue moon. The engine is tight. And I don't mean seized.

I just wait until the oil light comes on, that’s how Toyota designed it.

I check my oil after every trip, sometimes I’ll check it mid-trip. I will not allow my truck to be low on oil.
