ABS speed sensor-03 Tacoma- It has a metal sleeve in the sensor hole. It was damaged when it broke off and when I was removing it. Does it need to come out?

    Welcome to TacomaWorld.

Can you pull back with the pic a bit, not sure what I'm looking at. Doesn't appear to be stock wiring either. As for removing, absolutely - if you want it to function properly.

Edit: what is that sawdust looking stuff from? :notsure:

Yes, Thanks. The sawdust is junk from drilling into the sensor to get a screw into it to try to pull it out. So maybe the OEM sensor had a metal housing? I was afraid the sleeve needed to be left in there The new one is all plastic I think.

Ahhhh... 5 lug, why I didn't recognize it at first. Yep, not sure what to advise for this... Hopefully someone will chime in. I suspect you may end up have to remove the steering knuckle completely and quite possible be looking at re-doing wheel bearings in order to remove the remaining sensor. I say this since any debris which gets in there from drilling it out may become trapped and you don't want it in there. Again, speculating since I don't know 5 lugs.

Thanks, I did get it out with a makeshift slide hammer. Yes, I do need the sensor with the metal housing (at 3 times the price). The all plastic one I bought won't fit. I fear I did get some of that copper "sawdust" in there.
