I've got a full size bed rack from Mobtown (RIP), and I'm on my second set of upper screws that connect the supports to the horizontal crossbars. It's the one that goes over the softopper. The first set of screws began shearing off a few months after I got the rack. I decided to replace them, and had to use an extractor set as the screw heads would break off when I unscrewed them.

On the second set of machine screws, I used stainless steel screws from Ace Hardware. I thought the issue was them backing out and used Loctite. Well now about 5 months later, I'm having the same issue except now I can't extract the screws because of the loctite. Now I have to order all new crossbars from Prinsu.

Has anyone else had this issue with their racks? What can I do to keep this from ever happening again? Should I be looking at different material screws or rubber bushings in between crossbars and rack?

    Thanks

Drill out and go one size bigger. Throw out that red loctite. Use blue or use a torch.
