I have a manual 2009 Tacoma. When revving the RPMs I hear a strange noise. It's hard to describe, but it sounds like a low squeal mixed with some rattling. It comes on randomly and when I am in low gear. It's not the timing belt as I just had it replaced. Any suggestions on what this could be?

Video with sound may help identify it, 2nd gen trucks don't use a timing belt so I'm not sure what you had replaced.

sounds like you got a fast one pulled on you. Is the noise present in both high and low gear transfer case? Any particular transmission gear? Does it change as the truck warms up?

Maybe they replaced the drive belt.
The only Tacoma's that had timing belts were the 95-04s with the 3.4L engine, all others have timing chains

My bad. They did actually replace the drive belt and not the timing belt.

My mistake. It was actually the drive belt. The issue happens after the truck gets warmed up. It only seems to occur when I'm in low gear. It happens at random times, but happening more frequently. The engine light isn't on. It's very hard to tell specifically where the noise is coming from.

Does it sound anything like this? I had the exact noise in that video but it hadn't gotten so fast yet. Mostly in drive or reverse(engine under load at idle)
If it is while revving then it could be throw out bearing related
