    2012 2.7L Tacoma 4x4
    2012 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 2.7L I’m doing the front, rear diffs, and transfer case. I’m using 75w90 Vavoline synthetic even though manual calls for something different. I can’t see the sticker on rear diff and haven’t got a conclusive answer. Do I need to add limited slip additive or not. Thanks.

    It would not hurt to add limited slip additive

    No. There is no limited slip in that year truck. If the oil you purchased already has the limited slip additive it won't do any harm. But paying for an extra tube of additive will be a waste of money.

    I buy gallon jugs of Mobil Delvac 75W90 since the price-per-qt comes out cheaper than most other brands for a reputable synthetic fluid, and it does not include LSD additive.

    If you buy 3 jugs, you end up with 12 quarts, and it takes about 6 quarts to do a full front-diff/rear-diff/transfer-case service, so you are covered for 2 services.

    Like stated you dont need it but it will not harm anything.

    Been running whatever-is-the-cheapest full synthetic 75w-90 gear oil (which almost always comes with LSD additive) in front / tcase / rear diff and never had an issue and after about the 60k mile mark (3 gear oil changes in - did one @2k miles to get factory oil out, then one at 30k) the rear diff oil looked clean so I extended OCI's to 40k and it still comes out clean.
