Hey! I want to add about three inches to my rig (insert obligatory joke here). I have a 2020 TRDOR.

I have the off road skills of a fucking jedi, but I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing when it comes to the mechanical nature of lift kits. I’ve always had small SUVs (short wheel base, narrow footprint), so I’ve been able to take on some super gnarly shit with just great spacial awareness.

Cut to now. My beloved Taco is, while narrow in the grand scheme of things, wide enough and long enough that I can’t just scoot around certain obstacles like I could before. Maine is a barrage of deep wheel ruts and excessive foliage.

I need a boost, but I dunno what I should get that isn’t going to fuck my bank account more than it’s already been fucked. (Have I mentioned I love this truck?)

I know I could do a quick kit, for like, 300 bucks with blocks and shit (excluding labor). Is that a reasonable thing to do? I’m a “buy once, cry once” girl, but in all seriousness, when I’m not on an overland trip, I only go off roading maybe once every month or two. Is a cheap-o lift kit an okay investment? What are the pros and cons?
