Say y’all, I’m looking for the best way to run power to the rear so I can power trailer lights - all the viddys I’ve gone through either gloss over that part or do some pretty hack-tastic shit, like running the power wire through the wheel well to get to the side panel ‍♂️

So I’ve come to the source - what’s the right way to do this?

I made a bracket to support a fuse panel under the hood, then ran a bundle of wire along the factory wire harness to the left rear corner by the bumper. I then pick wires as needed for various needs and projects.

This is my fuse panel and bracket mock up. It is a Bluesea SafetyHub 100 that I chose to use.

Then here is a Bluesea panel I installed with USB chargers and 12v accessories plug.

I ran a wire bundle of various sizes for various tasks. Better to run a few extra then have to run more every time you add something in the back.

Why do you need to run power to the rear for trailer lights? All the lighting circuitry is already at the rear of the truck.

Do you have something else in mind?

He has a 4 cylinder, the towing harness was an option on the earlier models and the fours.

Nice job, my truck didn’t have bed lighting and with a trifold hard bed cover it gets dark up near the cab. I ran a few wires and installed a waterproof switch so I can turn them on where I am when I need them. Couldn’t see why to have a switch in the cab for the bed lights.

Yeah, the base model, if you want power to the back, you need to run it yourself. @Speedfreak, that’s a pretty sweet setup, thanks for the info!
I was just thinking it would be a really good idea to run a few more to add whatever comes up, thanks for the confirmation!
