Blown away by the Tacoma. Can't believe it took me this long.

Well boys and squirrels, I finally caved and after 6 years of salivating over Tacomas, I picked up a certified 2020 TRD Off Road 6MT.

Holy schnikes. I've lived in the boondocks for most of my life, and I mean real rural here. And I have never had a vehicle that was so comfortable in this environment. All these crappy secondary roads, overgrown trails, interstate and everything in between.

I previously owned a Crosstrek. I figured that experience would translate to a degree (there's only a couple of manual AWD SUVs left...well, there were at the time), and I was a little apprehensive because I hated the Crosstrek's manual. The gears were lopsided, catawampus, first gear wasn't long enough to even let the clutch all the way out until I got used to its horribly underpowered little buzzing as I zipped around.

In contrast, the Tacoma's manual feels like it has been engineered rather than thrown in as an option to catch some attention from atypical demographics. Each gear has an appropriate amount of palpable torque, and my, will it go.

I'm not sure I've ever had this much fun with a vehicle before. I just want to drive it...well, everywhere! Lmao.

With the price of new vehicles, including Tacomas, buyers remorse becomes painfully expensive.

Glad that's not a problem for you!
