Tunes with Gear Lock

Hello fellow people with tunes. I’ve been out of this for a few years and really want to to update/upgrade my tune.

I currently have a very old version of OVTune but they don’t have gear lock in the newer version. Which sucks because last time I read they had options for gearing and tire size.

Are there any other decent tunes that have gear lock? I don’t need an in person tune. Any off the shelf one that has gear lock will work.

I have 37’s and the only way this thing drives okay is with gear lock.

 

Before you go and buy a tune file I would make sure your older version of OVTune still works. OVTune has been replaced by the VFTuner software (still from Matt, the same guy that did OVTune). Also, the licensing process is now different in that the license information is contained in the Tatrix cable itself rather than getting an ID code from Matt. The license is verified each time you open the software, so you need to have the cable plugged into your USB port and have an internet connection available. I know there was a period where they offered to upgrade people on the old platform but I think that ship has long since sailed. The cable and software are sold as a pair now along with enough credits to unlock your ECU.

 

GL was recently added to the new tunes. I think vF is working through an issue with it though. I'll see if I can find the post.

Is "Ultimate" still in the works for us M/T nerds?

 

There was some chatter going on for a while, but it dropped off. This GL feature is the only recent thing that was part of the original Ultimate scuttlebutt.

A product calendar would be nice. Roadmap for development and future enhancements so clients know what's on the list and about when to expect it.

 

I’ve been talking to Matt about it. I can do an upgrade still (although not free anymore) to use the VFTuner software.

By make sure my older version works what do you mean by that? The tune itself? That’s been running fine for the last few years. I just want to update it to something newer since it’s one of the first tunes that had gear lock.

I assume the way the new thing works is once you have VFTuner working you buy tune files and load them onto the tuner/truck? That’s how most of these I’ve used in the past work.

 

Hmm…Matt said it wasn’t (at least with their tunes) but should be done by the end of the year he hoped.

Right or wrong, he's tried giving out development/release dates in the past and it's always ended in a shitshow when deadlines were not met. So he doesn't really do it anymore.

There was a time when he offered free upgrades to vF Lite. I do not know if that is still going on? Hopefully it is.

I had my OTT 8.0 tune changed from Med/Mild to Lite/Mild a couple of days ago (Sunday) and I now have Gear Lock.

Had to have it explained to me..."How to Engage it". DOH!

Now, to have fun with ECT engaged and use it in "D" as well as "S-Drive". There should be no downshifting when cruising at highway speeds when I floor the gas pedal.

Another fellow OTT customer got the Gear Lock first as I waited.

I’m in the same boat as OP. Been running the same tune since 2018? Lol!
But it’s one of the 4.88 betas and ran a TON better than the 1.05 when I flashed that. So I stuck with the beta.. it always comes across my mind time to time about asking for to try a newer tune, but it does fine in s4 so idk.

Maybe @tonered can confirm, but my understanding is that S-Mode gear lock wasn't working properly and there's been a release since that 1.6.9.0 noted in the FB post (1.9.6.5) which shuts it down until it's fixed.

 

I do not know. That is why I caveated it in Post 3.
