My AC is no longer working at all (light inside the cab won't even come on) and there are some seriously loud crickets and squealing in the engine. I thought I just needed to replace the belts but when I got under the hood I found a whole lot of hard build-up behind the fly-wheel of the AC Compressor. It looks like grease but is very hard. Any ideas what it may be?

Clutch packed it in, you need a new one. Quite common on Toyota trucks.
