Got started installing these cams/springs last weekend. No dice (yet) installing the new springs. They are STIFF! Double checked my technique by reinstalling a stock spring, which was cake. Used a customized Lisle 36200 tool, but clearly it’s not up to the task to compress the new springs far enough for the keepers to go in. Does anyone have tool recommendations? This install is being done on the motor, not heads on the bench. Thanks!

i'm going to mail Jesse the spring compressor I used. Should be there quick, although not right away. If anyone has some other suggestions that'd be great too.

I don't have great photos of it while I was doing the job but here's a couple.

Looks like I'll have to invest in some supercharger spec cams for the Tacoma. Needs more power

Awesome. I like the adapter piece you made. Should make it easy espyfor the valves near the firewall. And is that a holed out lifter bucket to press on the retainer?

That said, looking at the new cams and springs I’m wondering how much benefits Jesse will see from this without increasing redline, even though he’s boosted. I’m sure the valve train will handle more now, but is 6k asking too much of the stock bottom end rotating assembly?

I think you're right that increasing redline will let you get the most out of these cams. I've seen guys increase the redline, on an NA it's quite safe, although on boosted it's not recommended without bottom end upgrades. I did see a bit of an improvement though, about 30 wheel torque low and mid range. Whether or not that's worth it is up for debate. These are my forever cams so that's fine with me, I'll have them for when I re-gear, improve airflow through other parts of the intake, and do bottom end.

Also yeah a holed out bucket. That's not the one I ultimately ended up using though, I made one from a OEM tacoma bucket. That one you see there was for my car and it was ever so too small.
