SAS Quick Guide & Cost...

Custom axle is that why? I'm trying to wrap my mind of $10k for custom housing or 1t.

Custom front axles come out pretty close to the same price as a junkyard one Ton depending what you pay for the junkyard one. My dad I each built an axle pretty close to each other (mine custom 609 housing, his a 92 ford Dana 60). Figure you pay 1000-1500 for a Dana 60 and then scrap everything but the housing and knuckles. Maybe brakes. My housing was 700, knuckles 150, cs 300 (had to get new ones) and then brakes. The rest got replaced any way on both axles. Mines significantly lighter and maybe stronger. I used off the shelf shafts that match his so we only have to carry one set of spares.

It’s at least worth pricing out and seeing.

cusrom rear is normally more expensive but mainly for the fact 14 bolts are dirt cheap

 

Yea I had about 7k in a JY KP60. And I stole it at the time for 500. The 14b was significantly cheaper to build. Just bought another for 150 to start on a rear steer axle when I get the motor swap done.

 

I stopped calculating after a few grand...

Yep. After I accidentally hit the buy it now button for my beadlock, I stopped keeping track. Knowing full well this hobby will cost me my kidney.

 

2 Grand will barely buy some clapped out Reds nowadays lol
