Very true. Wife was involved in an incident, very clearly the other driver's fault; police report reflected the other driver at fault, witness gave same testimony, but when it came time for insurance companies to settle it, they seemed to throw all of that out of the window for some reason. Wish we had footage of that one, not because it was debatable and footage would settle it, but because it would've been the only thing needed to make a long drawn out process into a short ordeal. Having evidence of the incident to prove fault would've been critical in that case, because fumbling around between the insurance companies for weeks and weeks only delayed vehicle repairs, and only extended the burden of having to front the emergency money needed for rentals.

There is no reason to spend more money on the camera, they are pretty much all the same internals. Just stick with Viofo

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
I've got 3 of the older Garmin 45's and I have had all of them hardwired into the vehicles they were in. The worked very well and were very basic, simple units. Just a couple-a-few years ago, I made a change just to try something that had a much different operating premise. I bought 2 Nexar Beam cameras. The cameras are just as good in quality and features as the Garmins, and likely most others, but the cool thing about Nexar is the free services you get. The cameras store info on the SD card but they are connected through an app on your phone so your video and meta data are automatically uploaded to the Cloud so you have some safety retaining critical events. Another cool feature is you the app has an immediate edit feature so if you have an event, you can immediately go into that video, crop out all that which is not relevant to the event, and immediately email the video to your insurance or whomever you choose. It generates the video and also compiles the meta data like speed, date, g force, time, as well as a Google maps shot of your trip and where the event takes place.

The camera is priced similarly to all the others but there's a fair amount of free services after the purchase. I've been running these in 2 cars for over a couple years so far and it's remained fully functional and without much of any effort on my part so I see no reason to change back to the Garmins up to this point. Might be worth you looking into them, OP.

I want the SD card. It's easy plugging the card in my tablet, or laptop. High resolution playback. If I need to view a plate number. Most Garmin has the navigation, which I don't need. The leaning towards the 57 because of the higher video resolution over the 47. If I decide to go with Garmin.

I would say Fitcam X is one of the best due to integrating the design to the TSS on the windshield. I have the 4k model with the rear 360 degree cam with no issues so far. (even with the 100+ degree heat here in Texas).

i have this cobra dash cam i bought at costco 3 years ago for like $180 and it has worked flawlessly for me. it sits out in the florida sun baking in the sun practically everyday too. Im surprised this thing has worked for so long and hasnt given me any issues. i swear it must reach 150 degrees under that glass somedays

I can't remember who asked for an update on the fitcamx.....
I installed last weekend. I have both the front and rear cameras. So far so good. Pretty easy install and image quality seems appropriate. I bought the larger memory card and the app is pretty slick

I ordered a Garmin Dashcam 57 this weekend. It was $40 off on Amazon so figured Id go with that over the 47. It showed up last night but I didnt have time to install it. Think Im going to grab a suction cup mount so I have some flexibility on the location rather than a permanent mount with the sticky
