Windshield repair resin. Undone by wash fluid, glass cleaners, and temp changes?

    I had a small crack I got 12 months ago. It was 2". Now, it's 6".

    I tried to fix it with Rain-X brand windshield resin when it was small.

    I've had to put resin in again every 5-6 months since then because the crack kept getting bigger. Every so slightly everytime I drove.
