I've been using these forums to educate myself, a layman in almost everything automobile, with my 1st Gen 04 Xtracab Tacoma. I've always been a fan of these forums in the past for basic knowledge and after many years of abuse to my truck I've decided to turn it around and put a clean face on her.

Medically retired Veteran with the time to figure this stuff out on my own. Which I've been doing through lurking on these forums for the last year or so yet I've hit quite the roadblock and now decided it'll be best to post and engage with everyone here. I've loved my truck since I bought it, more the three months later in 2004 when I got rear-ended and rolled 4.5 times, walking away with just a bulged disk that's all but healed by now. I'm not a huge fan of driving itself, I have less than 90k miles on this truck, in the time I have driven it I've put some rather intense wear and tear on the vehicle.

Documenting the photos I'll need some aid with and getting ready to make that post but for now, I'll just say, HELLO, and thank you all for the years of help you've already given me.

I was slowly pulling into a driveway and a suburban hit the back left side, trying to avoid me at the last minute, spending the truck rolling. I can't recall all the details, crazy time in my life, but something about the cab being built in thirds and being able to be replaced. I'll never forget the side mirror mount because of how the truck hit the ground it was pushed in but fine. I remember being interviewed by police and the medics, I rolled right in front of a burger joint and everyone having lunch ran outside thankfully no one was walking by as I traveled probably 20 feet with the rolls when the tow truck driver using chains just righted the truck and left.

I remember yelling "hey wait" and thinking how the heck I was going to get it home. This is when I fell in love with the truck, the belt was a little loose but it drove home. I was only a block or two away from home, adding to the statistics of accidents near home, heh, but nonetheless, I was amazed that the truck worked.

Some would call what I've had as bad luck with the truck, after being in the shop for a period of time I've just forgotten a week later a dump truck backed into it. Between that and my own irresponsible decisions causing damage, I've always felt as long as I kept the engine tuned I wouldn't care about the body. Now I'm looking to fix that error and get it back into shape.
