Looking at getting one of these shade awnings. Anyone have experience with one of these?

I don't currently have a camper shell so I would need something possibly like a rear kayak rack crossbar to mount it?

Tried mine out last weekend. I like it.

I don't think it'll work too well with a rack that's flush with the bed.

Oh, yeah, you'd be good, provided those vertical bits aren't in the way.

Had one and didn’t like how the poles screwed together. Sold it and made my own with a tarp and telescopic poles.

I had help, but it's not bad. The main advantage of a second person is that you can have them hold the poles vertical while you set your stakes.

The poles don't screw together on mine. They just slide in to one another, and they're locked together with an internal cord.

I have one. Have put it up solo. No bed rack or shell, just hooked it across the bed. I like it. A lot cheaper than a swing awning and you don't need a rack to hook it to.

It also works great freestanding. Super sturdy in high winds (Joshua Tree below)

I have borrowed this to a friend that had a flatbed when he went camping we put it over the cab and it stretched over the flatbed for shelter

That two pole set up is what I intend to use it for. I didn't see an option for ordering it with two poles even so their site mentions it in the description.

I believe they all come with two poles. Mine did.

Yeah, I really like mine. It is heavy but stands up to the winds out here pretty well (at least up to about 45 mph but heck, I don't want to be out in that anyhow unless I have to!). I set it up for a work project the other day. It was clutch - kept folks and equipment cooler when it was like 115 deg F. The poles are petty burly, I think - and don't screw together but have an elastic cord inside that keeps them together. The fabric is light but also seems to be fairly tough.

In case you’re still looking, I have a Slumberjack Roadhouse with a mesh netting enclosure I’m looking to part with. Can’t seem to find the link to one - I’ll try again for even a YT video so you can see what it entails. I bought it in hopes I could use it, but after a year, I’ve never used it (always too windy) and now have an awning so have zero use for it. PM me if you’re interested! I’ll got all the original stakes, ropes and netting/tarp itself are in perfect condition.

    Edit: Here’s a link! https://sjkgear.com/roadhouse-screen-tarp/
