What are these things for?

I've seen it on several rigs. There are wires/cored from the hood or bumper to the roof. What the purpose other than looking very adventurey?

 

Never mind, I found the answer.

They are called limb risers and keep branches from smacking your windshield.

I still say it's for looks.

Most people just get out and move the offending limb.

 

Is that what those stubby handles on the new Bronco’s hood are for?

 

Or just stay in the vehicle and let the lines do their job. Work smart not hard.
