Out of curiosity, where did you buy that part? I see other pictures for that part number on Google that show made in Japan. I wonder if they switched suppliers at some point.

Unfortunately it's becoming this way across the board, it's not just limited to Toyota or vehicles in general but the majority of everything made today.
Quality control and build quality have taken a backseat to making things as cheap as possible while still having "enough of it" last "long enough".

Toyota I think still tries more than some others to produce quality stuff but even they are succumbing to the degrading quality throughout the supply chain.

Unfortunately it looks like it's just gona get worse as costs continue to rise manufacturers will continue cutting corners and using cheaper raw materials to keep production costs down.

That CHINA marked Front Tcase seal was purchased from McGeorge in the past few weeks. Another seal package is marked VIETNAM. IIRC another OEM Toyota part was marked MEXICO but I do not remember where it came from.

EDIT: The MEXICO part was a 90311-A0027 Rear Main seal & the VIETNAM part was a 90311-47013 Front Diff Tube seal. Both were from McGeorge.

Thanks for all the replies! Some of them cracked me up. I sent an email regarding the tail gate strap not matching the photo but will follow up with something about replacing the manifold now that I know I’m not crazy about those welds. I know MIGs can have some build up but these looked scary!

I bought an aftermarket $100 stainless off ebay job...
Mine has that egr mount/outlet so it can spin and have adjustability, for the alignment of that egr tube...
I noticed, the one you have is hard welded......could that have alignment issues....

Mine you get in place and then it locks on back side of that tube when you lock the flanges and gasket together on other side.....

I'll see if I can snap a pic tomorrow...

This been going on for years now. Standard business practice. NOT EVERYTHING IS MADE IN JAPAN BY TOYOTA! Toyota is also a business and want to make a substantial profit like any other business. If they can save 5 buck overall, it's a 5 buck profit in their pocket. The company you work for is doing the same thing.

Toyota outsources parts just like any other manufacturer, and they’re going to look for the best bang for the buck just like anyone else. I don’t get where this idea comes from that Toyota manufacturers every component on their vehicles in house out of magic and rainbow unicorn farts that somehow makes their parts superior to any other. On top of all that with the plandemic causing supply issues, I’m sure all manufacturers had to lower their quality expectations just to get parts.

p.s. I don’t see an issue with the tailgate cable.

Those welds should embarrass that dealership.

They're litterily a third party seller regardless. They don't QC every item. Most are drop shipped from warehouse beyond their control. It wasn't manufactured at their location.

Yeah not a fan of the asian stuff.....it was developed to be safe for animals.....period.

Crazy i know.....why.....why switch from whats worked for 100yrs....

Over time everything ages....and pinky doesn't do so well....
It protects by coating everything with a layer of slime.....
I grant u aluminum is highly reactive at 200 F......so even regular coolant still has to be replace every couple years....
    no short cuts there.....

I've worked on the ones that didnt do this.....all the aluminum is so corroded its unworkable....
Its like running well water thru your house without a water softener......fine....for a few years...
And all this is BS.....if you trade in every ten years......it'lll never catch up with you....

These trucks pop head gaskets for breakfast.....far too many.....
and way too many 'crack between valves'...

Cleaning that stuff out is tuff....takes many flushes....and cold water wont do it....

    You betcha.

Wonder what will happen when some folks around here learn Toyota oil filters are made by the 'low bidder' for a particular batch. Most likely they are some 'aftermarket' brand painted black and labeled Toyota. Because Toyota sure doesn't make filters. I'm not suggesting the filters are bad at all. Just that they aren't magically freshening your oil.

I think I used hot water to flush when I changed my rad (pinhole leak at upper plastic portion) but it's been a couple years now so I can't remember lol. I didn't notice much gunk build up but then again I didn't look too hard either. 3.4s don't have HG issues as much as the 4 cyl

And if your using the pink....dont stretch it out for years and years...
just change it more often..dont go for the record......7 years.....thats got to be one of the biggest jokes ever played on america.......

    Theory is...like dissolves like...right?

To crash the ship.....it usually takes several idiots in a row to make it happen....

Yep. Filter is a filter, as long as you change it periodically.

Gawd dam that is bad. You got to be trolling. I don’t see how that could get worse without having functionality defects.
