What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I appreciate everyone's opinions. It's a parking lot and private property so technically there's no right of way or speed limit. While I love this website sometimes I just can't get over the way people talk and demeanor of some of the members. I'm willing to take half blame. Although I do think he was on his phone and was cutting through the parking lot like I said. Going pretty fast. Whatever terminology suits you guys though. Don't want to ruffle any more feathers.

 

I'm definitely not looking to hit a guy while he's down (meaning, you just had damage done to a beautiful truck) but even in a parking lot there is a right of way. I did accident investigation (in New York) for 15 years. The guy driving straight ahead had the right of way. And in New York State, when no speed limit is posted, the unposted speed limit is 30 mph. Again, I'm sorry for your damage. My estimate (assuming it happened in NY) is the insurance company will find you 75% at fault and him 25%. Unless of course you can prove he was distracted, as in on the phone which is illegal in NY.

 

So let me ask you this, let's say in a parking lot the person is cutting across parking spots ( like a lot of people do), who's at fault then?

 

Just keep in mind it's just people's opinions. Only you and the other driver truly know what occurred ( distraction, speed, etc etc. ). Like you said lesson learned, and as much as it sucks you move on.

Like someone else said, always back into a parking spot, assume 100% of other drivers are idiots, and as much as we're all careful, accidents do happen.

Arm chair adjusters be damned. That guy was going way too fast for a parking lot and couldn’t react in time. Maybe you were coming out a little fast, but that was a forceful collision and he was easily doing over 10mph. Just like off-roading, videos never seem to depict things as extreme as they look from the cab.
Accepting 50% blame and everyone’s opinions with such grace is very mature and noble of you! I never uploaded traffic cam footage of the incident that totaled my 1st gen here even though the other party ran a red, was cited and was found to be at fault by both insurance companies.
I know myself and would be irate if some hogtroll in a computer chair told me that I wouldn’t have been T-boned if I hadn’t gone through a green light. “yOu sHoULd HaVe lOoKeD lEFt riGhT LeFt!! yOuR oWn FaUlT!”

I’m sorry your truck is out of commission, but am glad everyone is okay and hope that you’re back on the road soon!

Preparing for the bumper, light bar and winch install on Tuesday so this all happened yesterday. Group31 + SDHQ battery terminals + powerswitch temp installed. Also got the new left side switch panel replaced and the 4 new switches installed.

My man Adam aka @ahspurlock knocked out my Rough Country 3.5 lift today. Sitting with Wildpeaks 285/70/17’s on SCS BR6’s. Don’t even need to do a CMC. I’ve always been a Fox guy but so far I am really impressed on the stance and the ride of this Rough Country lift.

 

Those cost double what I paid for my hard plastic liners.
