Try a different cable, if you can?

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I don't have a 2nd cable to test with.

I had a problem with a Jackery 500. The Dometic would be off, seemingly after a bounce of the vehicle. I would manually reconnect the cable, and fix it.
A different cable did not fix it. It seemed to be the 'connector' on the Jackery. They, Jackery, replaced the 500, including shipping.

Try gently wiggling the cable in places and watch the indicator.

Thanks for the reply! In my case the problem occurs when the vehicle is not moving. I've unplugged / replugged the battery a bunch of times and sometimes the charge arrow comes on for about one second and then turns off. Sometimes no charge arrow appears at all.

    I'll try wiggling the connectors.

The wiggling might indicate a broken wire or bad connector.
I do not know how to troubleshoot the Dometic battery.

Hi @mgl45 - sorry for the late reply here but I wanted to check with some people on the team to see if they had some insight into this before I responded.

It sounds like you may have a bad cable, and it's a simple fix. Drop an email to customersupportcenter@dometic.com, and they should be able to help you get it sorted out

@2Toyotas - Is this a CFX3 or another model? A lot of the units can't be serviced like this given how they are manufactured. If it could be replaced but isn't under warranty I suspect it would be at least as expensive as buying a new unit since the items being replaced would be where all the cost of the unit resides.

I bet this question has already been asked. But! I’m just turning my ‘21 TRD DCSB into a RTT camping rig. A small lift kit, RTT, and a new Dometic CFX3 55IM.

I’m able to scoop a fridge slide right now; but the shop I’m working with told me it may be an expense I can avoid.

Does anyone believe that I should skip a slide? I plan to mount on the passenger side as a large 270 awning is mounted on the driver side.

I’m assuming that the tailgate will make accessing the fridge a real PIA?

Just curious how other users have set this up, etc?

    thanks in advance.

Same truck, have mine mounted passenger side as well on a slide, with an alucab canopy. I’m often camping with bikes on a hitch rack so it’s actually kind of a pain to drop the tailgate, so I actually usually access the cooler from the side canopy door a lot. I can reach most everything but occasionally stand up on the rear tire to get to things on the bottom. So I think your setup idea is doable.

My 55 is behind the driver's seat, replacing the 40% rear split, on a platform I built.

    No slide and storage beneath.

Solid reply; I have an RSi Smartcap with gullwings. And I should have mentioned that the shop though I may access it through that too.

I have a bike rack on the hitch once in a while and more to come with growing kids.

We cook and prep on the tailgate; so I’m leaning toward the slide.

the catch is when not camping; in real life; the dogs are back there a lot. So… so many expensive decisions.

if this was an option; I’d be all over it. But, two kids. Two car seats. Ugh.

but in the future… oh man… I’d be alllllll over that.

Since you have a cap, I’d get the slide, personally. I had mine back there in the past, both with a cap with side doors as well as a softopper. Tailgate down and sliding the fridge out was by far the easiest way.

Now I’ve got it in the cab without a slide but that’s not an option for you it seems.

Pretty sure I have a bad thermistor in the CFX3 95DZ I picked up used a while back. Anyone have recommendations for a replacement? Only one I've been able to find that claims it's specific for a CFX3 95DZ is this guy but it ships from Australia:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/133927138357

I'm no refrigeration expert so idk if just any old thermistor will work...

Can you look at the thermistor on yours? And see any identification?

I haven't torn the fridge apart yet and every video I've checked on replacing the thermistors on dometic fridges, they seem non-descript without any pn markings that I could tell.
