thanks for the input. I’m leaning towards the Toytec Aluma 2.0 3” kit right now, but I’m open to other suggestions. Maybe @Toytec Lifts has a special deal coming up for newbs to this whole Tacoma lifestyle

I’ve got a family member who’s got that set on their 2019, I borrowed it for a summer while I was in-between vehicles. Rides great, handles well on the road and comfortable on gravel.
I’m checking out their 2.5 series with RR and have heard pretty good reviews on them too. Who knows maybe there will be a labor day sale:thumbsup:

Like to hear more reviews of Toytec. Plus more reviews on the 3.5 Vertex from Tacoma world owners.

3.5 Vertex on the Tacoma is fairly new . Hopefully there will be some owners who have experience the 3.5 Vertex that can compare with what they had before.

Toytec? Being around along time. I have not read too much on there system. You do hear about all the others brands.

Don't know much about the vertex system, but from what I know personally I wouldn't recommend their kits, the quality isn't great and they're more for ascetic rather than functionality. Doesn't seem like you can go wrong with Toytec's though, they're a great mid-price range suspension setup.

Has anyone heard/seen reviews on the Skyjacker 3" lift kit?

What is this, a Jeep forum? Lol

A lot of GM guys use their stuff too. I'm sure there's technically nothing wrong with it, but experience tells us your best bet is to go with the brands geared specifically towards our trucks. Such as quite a few of them mentioned above

    Toytec

    Eibach

    OME

    Dobinson's

    Kings

I would save up some $ and get a bolt on kit made by one of those brands he listed, just spend the extra money and save yourself the headache in the long run. Plus you'll get a nice set-up that doesn't rattle your teeth out.

Most likely what I'm going to do for my 17 off-road DCSB. Unless my work price on the pro stuff is cheaper... Lol

20220925_133339.jpg too much to read....but does anyone know if stock 2021 sport suspension can handle 1.5 inches up front and 1" block in the rear with no rear driveshaft support bearing drop? i recently added the trd sema 17"(267/70r17) wheels and measured from the ground past the dead center of the hub up to the fender and read 36". the factory 17s(265/65r17) measured 35.2." after adding a damn HEAVY duty bed mat(5ft bed) and a pair of steel running boards(about 60lbs i'd say) the truck is squatting again at 35.25." i am trying to retain the body height i had before wear and tear on the stock springs and just wanted to "cheap" out until the stock sport suspension has more wear to it. my main concern is the adding a 1" block to the rear shocks.

A solid question. However, adding blocks and spacers will wear your s*** out faster.

And a drive shaft carrier bearing drop kit is super cheap. Honestly if you could find an inch thick metal plate and just drill it out you can use that.

You may also consider rear add-a-lift spring instead? There are many to choose from. This will help with heavy loads in your truck.

Also many rear lift companies that can re-arch the rear springs, add more or less leafs?

My son just installed this kit on his 4runner. It actually rides quite nicely considering. I was skeptical at first -- but so far it rides better than stock

OK, I'm first going to apologize if this was answered somewhere in here, and I didn't see it. I have two questions.

first, will a 3 inch lift require me to do anything that would change gearing or things that provide power to the wheels?

I have seen people mention causing issues with their warranty by doing your own work on the truck with things like this. Is that true? Or is there a certain amount of changes we are allowed to make without breaking that rule?

    sorry, that was three questions.

The general rule of thumb with Toyota IFS is 2 to 2 and 1/2 in usually nets zero problems. After that you get into the fun department of geometry. At 3 in is about when we start seeing CV, boots tear or rip, and when driveline vibration start becoming prevalent. Every truck is a little bit different but just keep in mind at 3 inches you're going to want to look at rear axle shins, or a carrier bearing drop spacer, or maybe a combination of both, and on the front potentially a front differential drop if you're not off road. If you do off-road heavily, skip the diff drop but look into high angle CVs. O'Reilly gold actually have these and they're not terrible axles.

As far as warranty work goes, I work at a dealership and here's how we handle things. If the question you have regarding warranty is on a part that is not related to or unaffected by anything modified, the modifications don't matter. For example, if you're coolant reservoir is leaking but you put an adoof on the back of your truck, the adder leaf does not invalidate the warranty on your coolant reservoir. If your head unit is messed up and the screen is blank but you put bigger tires and wheels on your truck, the bigger tires and wheels have nothing to do with your head unit. Therefore, you're still covered. That being said... If you put a 3 inch lift on your truck, let's say it's an actual lift kit with coilovers a diff drop spacer and rear addel leaves, and then you complain about a vibration and we have to track something down and it turns out a bolt broke somewhere or perhaps one of your CVs is breaking loose, we're not going to warranty that because it is directly related to the parts you modified.

All that being said, feel free to PM me with any specific questions regarding specific parts and what Toyota will or won't do in terms of repairs, etc. Glad to help

Dang!!! This set up is super nice! I’ve been looking for a front bar like that. Is that custom? I know this is an old thread but hopefully someone will answer
