This is a phenomenal thread everyone! Just did a regular old Bilstein/Toytec lift on my truck but once it's paid off, I'll be buying ANOTHER Taco (I'm a carpenter so it'll be a 4 door long bed) to leave stock for work/DDing and going LT on my current girl. I'm really digging this thread (and the whole forum in general), but I have a looooot of homework to do. Good thing I have at least a good 3-4 years to learn about all this!

It's a lot to learn, and I'm not too mechanically inclined myself, but I have some good friends who are solid mechanics and always help me out. My biggest thing has always been being afraid to turn a wrench because I NEED to get to work on Monday haha. With a second truck I'll be way more comfortable learning the ways of vehicle work.

Does anyone know if the all pro Tacoma long travel kit will work fine with a coiliver conversion on the front? It’s on 10’ fox reservoirs

You mean 10" fox coilovers with an aftermarket shock hoop?

Coilover conversion really is a term describing the converting of a separate coil spring and shock system into a coilover suspension, but Tacoma's already come with coilovers from the factory. If you're asking will an all-pro kit works with a 10" fox coilover, is there a drop bracket lift installed on the truck? Or rather than using stock or 8" coilovers are there already 10" coilovers installed on the truck pics would help.

newby here in the suspension realm. Very informative thread on LT. I just have a question for anyone that is knowledgeable about suspension mods. Is there no compromise somewhere in the middle for those of us that are "highway princes" 80% of the time? I ride on rough country roads more than I get in the mud, and I would very much like to not feel every bump I go over and have my passenger seat remind me that I hit a bump as well. I have a 2014 TRD Sport (84k miles) with stock Bilstein shocks. Should I just start with upgrading my shocks?

LT is definitely more than you need, and yes it's very likely you should be looking at upgrading your stock suspension to something else prior to splurging on a LT setup. There is a whole lot of performance to be had in a mid travel setup, and there is an entire spectrum in the long travel realm as well. Take it from me as someone who definitely didn't "need" LT but did it anyways, it's a lot of capability that isn't often used. Also, don't think of long travel as a means of making little bumps on the dirt road go away, but instead at soaking up the big stuff and maintaining control that would be putting a mid travel setup working overtime, and being extremely hard if not destructive on a stock suspension. Putting an off-the-shelf LT kit onto an otherwise stock Tacoma doesn't make it a trophy truck, and it most definitely won't be riding on a cloud. It's just got a ton more travel in that stiff suspension to play with.

    Look into “mid travel” suspension.

My daughter has a 19 4runner, we put on 285 tires, Fox adjustable shocks in front, Fox ressis in the rear with Eibach coils, and that thing rides so nice both on and off road. I love driving it. For easy-lite trail riding it's perfect, for rougher race courses she slows down but she didn't need a full off-road truck.

thank you for the suggestions. I’ll definitely look into that. The adjustable shocks in the front, how difficult is it to adjust them?

FOX with the dual compression clickers. But honestly, we've only set them once.
