    Inspiration

I originally fell in love with Toyota trucks by watching Back to the Future in theaters as a kid. Marty McFly's dream truck was an awesome truck.

Purchased my 2013 SR5 Access Cab Taco brand new and have been tinkering with it ever since. Doing little things here and there. I murdered it and did the work myself. Fairly inexpensive but lots of labor. A labor love. I do not plan to part with this truck anytime soon. I have a lot more work to do to make it just the way I want.

    Beyond cosmetics thus far:
    • Beefed up the rear springs with OME leaves and hardware. Great for heavy loads. Does not sag.
    • Tried Bilstein rear shocks to match the new height but they busted. Now have off the shelf shocks with thread extenders, works great.
    • Tried OME 2886 coils over Bilstein 5100s. Bilsteins are great but the OME 886 were a bit stiff despite extra weight in front. Removed OME, reinstalled stock coil overs the 5100s, set a the lowest setting and added a spacer to the top. Works good for now, but I would like another inch in the front just for cosmetic leveling. OME 2884s or 2885s maybe a better choice for lighter set ups.
    • US Offroad front bumper, overall an easy install and doesn't extend the length of the truck. Get some good primer and paint this comes bare metal.
    • Viper winch 13,000 pound. Fairly easy install into the new bumper. I would recommend installing on the bumper first due to the tight spaces and then installing the bumper with the winch attached.
    • Toyo MTs 255/85/16 on original rim. Great tires for snow and mud, but they do suck up gas. I purchased a second set for daily driving.
    • General Grabber AT2 245/75/16, these are great tires and perfect for the street as well as moderate off roading and are ready to be studded if necessary. I will buy these again.
    Upcoming additions
    • Skids plates, I want protection but ones that don't weight me down terribly bad.
    • Rocksliders, I'm thinking either All Pros or CBIs with kick out.
    • LCA skids, purchased BAMFs and waiting to arrive.
    • Roof Rack and tent, I can only find Prinsu roof rack that is made for the access cab that is strong enough for a tent.
    • Wheel extenders 1.25" to stop Toyo MT tire rubbing on turns, purchased and waiting to arrive.
I would appreciate any recommendations on the upcoming additions. Thank you in advance for taking the time.

Its been awhile for an update to this post but still tinkering on this now almost 10 year old friend.

Beyond lots of west coast rust and lots of miles since the original post I've added:

    - RCI aluminum skid plates
    - RCI kick out tube rock sliders
    - replaced OEM head with LCE long tube - only performance mod thus far
    - changed out tires to Falken Wildpeaks ATs 235/70 16s - still have all other tires except OEM Dunlops
    - installed 1.25" wheel extenders

    + Minor upgrades:
    - trailer hitch
    - in channel window defectors

    + Thinking of doing:
    - roof rack: still undecided plus the cost has gone way up on the Prinsu
and want to keep it as light as possible. Any suggestions are welcome.
    - deleting the cat - still undecided since not sure if HP will improve
    - upgrading the exhaust - still undecided since the OEM is working fine and also not sure if HP will improve
    - upgrading the air intake - still undecided since not sure if HP will improve.
    - getting a dyno and if possible adjustments to improve HP - not sure if possible to adjust with the MAP sensor.

I am looking mostly for performance upgrades at the moment as I need more power. Any suggestions are welcome on how to increase the HP on the 2TR-FE or anything else mentioned above or an upgrade you really like.

    Thanks All!
