In my past vehicle purchases, I have encountered some sales people that I enjoyed interacting with, but I have never met a finance manager that I liked. They are clearly paid more, dressed up in a private office, and think that they are better/smarter than everyone else. During my past couple of purchases, in an effort to minimize my interaction with the FM, I pre-negotiated the sales price on the phone with an email verification, got my own financing and basically showed up for a brief test drive and signed the paperwork. If you try to negotiate the price on their turf, you've already lost.

Oh definitely. I just don't think it makes sense to negotiate over a car, and trade in, that doesn't even exist yet. Once it gets closer to delivery and the deal is ready to be finalized then we can go back and forth on price etc.
