    Hello everyone,

I posted a bit ago about my MX4 cover leaking on my 21 5 foot bed Tacoma, and got some pointers about how to stop it. I ended up calling BakFlip and going to a reseller locally to have it professionally get looked at, and come to find out the rails were bad. Luckily, there were some delays and issues that prevented me from getting it sooner so they sent me an entire brand new one. The shop put it on for me, I noticed the putty/sealant on the corners which is good and looked like a ever so slightly new version of it. However, we just had a rain storm last night and found in the same spots "soaked" with water. I understand the tailgate may have some drops or little water because there's holes there but this is unacceptable for a $1k cover.

Would this require me to bring back to the shop, which I planned on calling anyway, or should it be a Toyota dealer possibly being the actual bed of the truck? The shop was very helpful and nice with only an hour of labor for everything, but I don't know what it can be from here. I have read on here and other people they "haven't had a drop of water" or any major leaks so I am curious if I just have terrible luck.

    Thanks!

I would start with Toyota. I’ve run 2 Bakflip covers, the MX4 most recently, and the G4 on my previous rig.

In total, I’ve had a Bakflip on my truck for almost 10 years. I never once had an issue with leaking and I drove through an actual hurricane once when we got evacuated from Hatteras Island several years ago. Even after that, all our cargo was dry.

I’m sure it’s possible that you received two defective covers from Bakflip, but I think the odds of getting two defective ones in a row are very very slim.

    Hope this helps!

Thats what I was thinking.. I am going through the warranty process again just to see if it is the cover or what. I really wouldn't know what to even ask or show Toyota since its an "after market" cover. I have service coming up in a few weeks so if nothing happens again with the warranty then I guess I will ask.
