    Hey everyone!

I always turn to this forum for help with anything relating to the Tacoma. Today I’m asking for some HELP! Here is what’s going on….

Recently I was having some serpentine belt squealing happening in the morning/ cold start and then a few miles down the road it would stop. Was thinking maybe it was just some moisture or rain water. I would mainly hear the noise during idle, but when accelerating the noise would subside until I let off the gas and would start again. But like I said this noise would stop after a few miles.
So I kinda played it off, while doing some research on why this is happening. I thought maybe it was time for a serpentine belt replacement. I know for a fact it was changed around 30k and now I currently have 75k on the truck. So all in all why not change it and see. So I picked up a dayco belt at advanced and replaced it. Pretty simple. Started up the truck and it seemed great but after a few seconds it started a constant chirping/ squeal noise, even worse than before!

Now I’m thinking it’s maybe the pulleys. The top idle pulley and the tension pulley both have a little movement, making me think the bearing are shot but everything moves smooth (checked all the pulleys when belt was off).

And just a final though maybe the bearing were bad with the old belt, but with the new belt being tighter it’s putting more stress on the pulleys making it squeal?

Has anyone experienced this? It’s driving me nuts. I feel like Uncle Buck haha

The truck is a 2016 TRD sport

Remove the belt and physically turn the pulleys. It might be a slightly worn pulley. Seems pretty soon for a belt to be worn out.

I've put in several Dayco belts over the past few years and they all squeal. I replaced them all either with OEM, Gates, or Continental and no longer have squeals. Personally not a fan of Dayco any longer.

If it's cold start and goes away when warm then I would say belt. If it's all day long/intermittent then look at the pulleys.

Google TSB-0098-20. This might fix the issue.
