Hi everyone this is my truck and would like to add OEM 3rd gen off road wheels and tires from a 2021 taco, I believe I would need new lug nuts for these wheels as my stock ones are a different size right?

So I ended up deciding on 2021 Tacoma limited 265 60 r18 wheels since I live in San Francisco and do mostly city driving.
The off road wheels have a nice aggressive look and more thread for my needs.

    question!
Do these 18in wheels make a huge difference in performance?

    thank you all in advance?upload_2022-11-8_21-27-48.png

Correct. Lugnuts that came with OEM steelie wheels are different than ones that come with alloys.

You’ll also need TPMS monitors for alloy wheels. I believe 3rd gen TPMS won’t work on 2nd gen. Someone who knows more can correct me if I’m wrong.

I think the early 3rd gen (16-18?) are compatible, but 19/20 and onward uses the new style TPMS. The Car Care Nut on youtube has a video explaining the transition to the new style (around 17min mark on video):

Thanks for the video, you are right!
If want 2021 alloy wheels I need 2nd gen sensors for alloy wheels in order for the cpu to read them.

Looks like I need these here , mechanic says I’ll need 5 so cpu can also read the spare tire.

i see, his point was that the cpu reads 5 sensors and that my full size spare also has a sensor.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated

The cpu stores what you manually input or what the reader inputs. There are 5 spots, you only need 4 to be inputted, the spare which it is marked can be left blank. 3rd gens might be different, you have a 2 nd Gen. Which only require 4 tpms inputs.
