This is my first post to the forum. I’ve owned a Tacoma before and I really enjoyed it so I got another one to get me through school. I’ve been searching the forums for a high mileage maintenance list and I just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything.

    Hoses under hood
    Transmission fluid and filter.
    Coolant change.
    Power steering fluid change.
    Brake fluid change.
    Lube the U-joints.
    Differential fluid change.
    Sway bar bushings
    Shocks and struts
    Lower control arm bushings

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    What engine/transmission?
    2wd or 4wd?

You may want to check the coolant pipe under the intake manifold if it hasn't been updated to the steel one, the factory plastic one is known to leak.

Check everything on the front end for play/looseness and replace parts as needed.

If your in the rust belt check all the frame and suspension components for things that might be getting rusted out.

Do you know the maintenance history of the car, especially transmission and if synthetic oil was used?

No I do not. I tried to get it from the dealer but it did not exist. What would you suggest for fluids?

Run a Carfax report, you may get an indication of prior service....Regarding fluids etc....grab an owner's manual...The 4 cyl has different requirements than the 6...I run 0-20 or 5-20 oil in mine...
