Actual cash value? Did you buy the truck new? I hope you did not declined the waiver of depreciation or even guaranteed replacement cost coverage if it is available in your area. Due to the market this may play out in your favor but I will be sure on that.

After reading this thread I immediately hopped on my insurance app to see what my deductibles were for both comprehensive and collision, and sure as fudge it was a $1000 for both. Changed comprehensive to $0.00 and collision to $50.00 lowest it it would go, insurance went up a whole $40.00 a month. I’m terribly sorry for OP but thankful I stumbled upon this thread. I’ve been thinking my deductible was at or around zero for nearly three years:annoyed:

So you're willing to pay almost $500 a year EXTRA to maybe not be out $1000 deductible? Whatever works for you I guess.

Oh I read the thread. Some poor person got their truck stolen. I've owned dozens of cars, trucks, and motorcycles in my time. I've lived in half a dozen states. I've driven through most of them, parked in some sketchy areas and have never had one stolen or broken into. Sure, it could happen tomorrow, but statistically speaking, these things just don't happen. Assuming a 30 year driving history, paying $500 a month MORE than you have to is $15,000. Imagine what else you could do with that money. But if it helps you sleep at night.... it just seems like a knee jerk reaction to a problem that isn't all that significant.

It doesn’t make sense to spend the extra $40/month ($480/year) to lower your deductible by $1000 unless you are getting your truck stolen at the rate of once every two years. Over time, it’s probably at best a wash and more likely a net loss to reduce the deductible. I’m surprised that change resulted in that much of an increase. For me that would increase my premium by 50%.

I don't disagree; its just the price to pay for not being in control of those things and relying on being the one it never happens to. I'm not gonna go lower my deductibles; we all play the game of weighing pro's and con's when we make those decisions, and its different for everyone. I just found it almost comical (sorry OP, not actually funny) saying essentially "that coverage is a dumb choice" in a thread someone started about their stolen truck and high deductible :anonymous:

thank you for being so logical.. an additional $480/year in insurance is pretty significant IMO.. especially when my yearly premium is like $690. adding $480 would almost double the premium :sadviolin:

Big difference between something never happening and something happening so infrequently that paying out the butt to lower the deductible is worth it.

For all we know the OP has saved $2000 in total premiums over the years he had a high deductible and no comp claims. Might help him feel a little better.

Yet never filed that money away into an emergency savings probably, yikes. I agree with you though; again, just found it ironic and nearly comical. Sucks for OP, but hopefully it results in some sort of positive teaching moment takeaway. Doesn't appear to be though. Detective Drone will hopefully post back :anonymous:

Yes, I am, given that my insurance just dropped $50.00 a month, I recently moved from Florida to MD. Lots of deer where I live, even more shitty drivers, and I get notified once a week via ring that a car in my area has been stolen, but thanks for your condescending input, it is appreciated nonetheless:thumbsup:

Sorry OP but your trucks probably not there. That's where they pulled over and busted the cell transmitter. So your truck may know where it is but it can't tell you.

Okay just hopping in to say that I can't wait to see this drone video. But, definitely, a taco (or $2k) ain't worth your life. Be smart. But screw those guys.

The sheriff would need a judge to sign off on a warrant to go on private property and search for a stolen vehicle.
i doubt they would bother with that as the last ping of your GPS was probably where they stopped to disable the GPS and then carried on down to mexico.

A lot of broke dicks on here sweating over $50 a month, lol. Plenty of people spend way more than $50 a month on way dumber things than insurance. Whether or not it's worth it to you is all that matters, dude.
