Looking at the “played out” 4R 17 wheels.

Currently have an Ironman FC Stage 2 lift.

    1. What’s the range of skinnier tires that will fit?

    2. I read somewhere the newer versions might not fit the rear axle hub of the Tacomas? What’s needed at all for a fit?

    Other considerations? Thanks!

Can you be more specific about which wheels you are asking about?

    Indeed.

    255?

265/75/17 is what I was thinking. Balance snow (winter resort) with some light trails (1-4 OnX is the closest measure I can come up with)

265 isn't even a skinny. You could probably go down to at least a 235 with a 7 inch wide rim.

I’ve got sema wheels with 255/80/17 tires. I wouldn’t go any skinnier because the rim is 7” wide. It will fit but there the tire “bulge” will be non existent.

I believe it’s 2020+ version of these rims that don’t fit because tacos have drums in the back.

    Hope this helps.

I did the 255/80r17 I have a fox lift around 2-2.5". No cab mount chop needed just had to have my front wheels moved forward in alignment. Caster I believe is what they call it.

My alignment was done to factory spec. No rubbing at full articulation whatsoever, not even mudflaps. I’m very happy with this rim+tire combo.

Interesting. I had to mold the plastic liner as well to not rub. Couldn't fit the mud flaps even if I wanted.

Same wheels as you. I just looked up the tire specs and they are the same as yours as well. I have the toyo at3. I do have the Icon upper control arm. And to tell you the truth I have now idea if I am within factory spec or not.

Hm very strange. I actually have room between my tires and mudflaps. About 3/8” to the cab mount at full lock. Stock UCAs.

Recently I went off-road on pretty large rocks and not even one little rub on
    Anything.

I did learn on here that every truck is a bit different. There is a guy on here that runs 285s on stock OR wheels with no CMC and stock alignment, which is like impossible.

So, I'm looking for an older model TRD Pro wheel? Any part numbers? Thanks!

Same. Trd lift kit and Sema Wheels. 275-70-17 Falken wp at3w. No rub

They won't fit on the axels, and no shop will mount em for you because they would have to force them on which isn't safe.

There's a bigger thread somewhere on here about the newer t4r pro wheels where they detail their experience and describe having to grind down their axels which is a terrible idea
