Trade it in for a new one. With that high of mileage, our trucks aren’t as dependable.

In all seriousness, drive it normally as you would any vehicle.

I was referring to, now I can drive it long distance if I have too, exceed 4,000 RPMs if I have too. Since, break in . Reference not to do any of the above.

Though not 'required' a break-in oil and filter change isn't a bad idea. you'll likely see metal bits in the filter pleats. And it is time for a Friday oil thread.....

Mine just turned 28,000 km and I have been driving it the same since day one. The truck is still learning your driving habits. Have fun and enjoy it and please don't read all the negative little complaints here as some are pretty lame. They are great trucks been driving them since 1993.

    Drive it :goingcrazy:

The only thing I really did not do was tow or haul heavy loads for the first 1000, like manual mentions...

Should have been driving it like you stole to start with. Modern vehicles really don't need to be broken in!

    Oh look, another mod....

Slap some add-on's that will make it look less SR/5-ish. A lift, tires, wheels, steel bumpers, STICKERS & LIGHTS!!! Get so many lights that you can see into the fucking future.

As stated above, I would get and oil and filter change if you have the extra cash. When I changed mine after 1000 miles, I was suprised at the amount of metal I found in the pleats. So much so that I changed it again at 2500 miles. I did not see any shavings that time.

Correct, it isn't a "bad idea", it's a terrible idea. Why? Manufacturers use a paste as assembly lube during the engine manufacturing process, the assembly lube is designed to mix with the oil and aid the break in of the engine and should be left in the engine for the bare minimum of 5,000 miles.

What does the assembly lube do? Does it trap debri so when you change the oil debri comes out with the oil or does it just aid in lubrication of new parts??? Since its a paste? Im thinking fod sticks to it? Sorry if it's a dumb question I'm new to this...

1000 miles is more than enough for break-in. change the oil if you want.

i would actually recommend changing the rear diff fluid first. mine was pretty bad at 500 miles. lots of metal flakes on the plug.
