    Looking for help. Asked this question in the tractor and mower thread. Any thoughts? Morning all, question for you. Can shafts on hydraulic cylinders be welded? Cylinder on front end loader on our JD which tilts the bucket snapped close to the end that connects to the bucket. JD wants crazy money for a new cylinder. Any ideas?

    I had no intentions to call out of work so soon. I'm not the type to ever call out but boy oh boy I have been stuck in the rest room since 5am. And everytime I get up to leave the house I'm running back in the house. This absolutely sucks in every possible way.

    Yes, they can be welded. If the chrome goes all the way to the end where it needs to be welded just grind the chrome off a little bit and have at it :thumbsup:

    yep, I made a custom steering ram flr my dad’s JD210 since you couldn’t get them anymore, cut the old end off his and had a buddy tig weld it on the new shaft. Found a cylinder online with similar diameter and travel specs.
