Does anyone know how much suspension travel comes stock on the TRD OR and TRD PRO? Ford really brags about how much the travel is on the Raptor and I’m not expecting the Tacoma to be anywhere close, but why isn’t this number even published or discussed?

Stock front travel is about 8". Rear is more (like 12").

Of course the Taco doesn't compete with the Raptor. Rather it competes with the Ranger. Taco's front suspension travel equals the Ranger's rear axle suspension travel.

Good info. Safe to assume for the PRO then I’d add 1.5” to the front and 0.5” to the back?

2022 Pro with the forged UCA? Hypothetically yes.

Since the control arm bushings flex rather than rotate, actual numbers will be less if you try to measure it on your truck, unless you loosen all the pivot bolts. That goes for the Raptor and Ranger as well.

It’s relatively easy to change the ride height of a Tacoma, but adding suspension travel gets expensive fast. There are aftermarket front shocks (king, fox, etc) that give perhaps .75-1” but they are super expensive. Beyond that you have to go the long travel route which is only for the extreme enthusiast.

For the rear, you can get extended length shocks. Accutune sells some modified tundra shocks. Beyond that, you can run even longer shocks by relocating the mount point. This again is for the extreme enthusiast.

I don’t understand your question? Are you asking for a lift recommendation? All the trims are the same as far as suspension travel is concerned. The only thing the pro has is different shock absorbers and a extra inch of ride height in the front.

2022 Pro with the forged UCA and longer Fox shocks may have more travel. (It's basically Toyota's OEM attempt at replicating the "mid-travel" setup the aftermarket has been doing for the past 17 years.)

You have to get a set of custom red 2.5 Kings, and Camburg Kinetic UCAs now.

We’ve only had a handful of pros with arms so far, I doubt they’d let me remove the shock and measure travel haha.

I always assumed it was for geometry for the all joint angle and alignment specs.

Yeah this is what I have but there’s no info anywhere that I can find about travel
Well, the 2022 has a new UCA and it’s 1.5” up front and 0.5” in back so I’m just asking if there’s more travel on my truck

1.5” and 0.5” of lift you mean? If so, that’s unrelated to total suspension travel. AFAIK, all trims have exactly the same suspension travel; albeit I’ve never cycled any of them myself.

Putting a lift into a Tacoma does not mean more suspension travel. All that changes, is where the ride height is, within the suspension travel.

To increase travel, you need to change the suspension geometry.

All of this is explained in the video @trajiiic 's posted.

Yes but my understanding was that when toyota added the lift and UCA to the PRO they were adding some travel

“The TRD Pro is now lifted 1.5 inches higher than a regular Tacoma in front and 0.5 inches out back. There are new forged upper control arms with a repositioned ball joint and additional suspension travel, specifically more rebound stroke, from the trucks’ Fox internal-bypass shocks.”

    https://www.forbes.com/wheels/features/2022-toyota-tacoma-trd-pro/

I had read this in multiple articles .. but nobody says how much travel.

Maybe just watch the video I posted, then watch his video on UCAs....

At this point nobody knows what exactly the new UCAs do different than the standard UCAs, but per the engineer's breakdown in the video, a larger range of travel cannot happen without changing other parts of the suspension besides springs/shocks/UCA.

Put it this way. Let's say you have 6"of total travel on a stock TRD OR (I don't remember what he said total travel was). 3" up and 3" down, and you are currently sitting right in the middle. If you raise the truck by 1", you are now at 4" up and 2" down all things being equal. The total travel remains 6" total, you just changed where you are sitting in that range.

His UCA video explains that UCA is used for correcting alignment and allowing for the ball joint to sit in a more neutral position instead of nearly maxed out while sitting still
