Hello....just for curiosity, how much torque does it take to strip engine oil drain plug....since factory says torque to 30 ft lbs..... how much more before it starts to strip? And does drain plug strip first before pan insert? Is plug made of softer metal?

Pan will typically strip first and there is no set torque number for a breaking point where the pan will strip out.

Pan will strip first every time. Make sure you have a washer under drain plug, and snug it up. Or you can google the harborfreight 20% off coupon and bag a torque wrench.
