Hello, I have a 2004 toyota tacoma base model. In the past week I have noticed that I have low voltage to no voltage to all many constant wires in the cab. This means that the digital clock, radio, emergency flashers, lock/ unlock with a fob and control locks in the cab will not work. I have a remote start and that seems to work. The lock and unlock will work, but only when the vehicle is in start. However, the emergency flashers, radio, clock will not work when the vehicle is on. I recently installed LED overhead bulbs and put a 1W 100 ohm resistor on each bulb and 2 resistors on the center overhead light. I do not have any blown fuses! Is it possible that I blew a resistor. I took out the overhead lights and the problems still persists. I am above average with wiring, and any help at all would be extremely appreciated. I’ve researched dozens of items and dozens of forums. What should I do? Thank you for all of your help.

I'd start by checking all the ground wires in the engine bay, as well as the cab. In particular, the ground under the drivers side kick panel. You'll have to pull the scuff plate (being exceptionally careful not to damage them) and then pull the kick panel towards the back of the truck.

Hey thanks, I really appreciate your response. Do you think the resistors could also play a part?

Check your relays. I bet one of them kicked the bucket. Pull the relay and use jumper wires from the battery to trigger the coil, you should feel and hear it click closed. If it doesn't, it's bad. If it does, check for good continuity across the switch in the closed position.

The resistors shouldnt be a factor because they are in-line with the rest of the lighting circuit; if the light wasn't on/drawing current before switching to LEDs/resistors then it won't be now, given you haven't grounded the resistors outside of the original circuit somehow.

It is really hard to "blow" a resistor, but you could check real quick with a multimeter: set the multimeter to measure resistance then put a probe on either side of the resistor and verify against the original 100ohms.

Likewise, get to work with that multimeter on all the circuits in question.

Agree- I doubt that the resistor is an issue. on the ground points- it might be that you need to disconnect them and wire brush them. These trucks are heavily ground based, so an issue with one ground strap can effect a lot of systems.

Possible a fuse is partially blown. Did you check fuse continuity, or resistance?

    How are you checking voltage?
And where are you checking voltage?
