I just picked my truck up from the dealer after filling it with tainted gas(yes I put an entire tank full in it). Apparently the supplier to several Shell stations in the East TN and VA area messed up the fuel. Our trucks are pretty sensitive to bad gas.
At first it just pinged and knocked at low rpms when the slightest amount of load was added, then it started to reaally lose power and not want to shift down when pressing the peddal.
Next day, i started it up to take it to the dealer, and it started coughing, burping and then lost every bit of power it had. Barely made it, I mean BARELY, back in to the driveway where I had to get it towed.
A full system flush, drop and empty the gas tank and 6 new spark plugs later... Fortunately, my insurance paid for it and the gas station paid my deductable. Eveyone I have ever talked to about anything like this has had no luck getting the gas station to cop to the problem. This one did. It wasn't water. An I still don't know what it was, but the tech said it smelled funky kind of like WD40.

So I treated my baby to 93 octane fuel and a nice complete wash. At least I picked a good week to get COVID(if thee is such a thing)

I have to say though, I now get anxiety putting gas in my truck. Unreasonable? yes. But i am sure I'll get over it,

Definitely understand your concern. My dealership threw in a 7 year 75k mile free maintenance package (Car Doc) which includes air and cabin filters as well as brakes (including shoes and pads). Just figured I’ll take advantage of the generosity and if anything goes wrong all maintenance was performed at an authorized dealer. Once it’s up though if I’m able to perform my own maintenance (god willing) I’ll do it myself. If not I know of a couple reputable local mechanics that could do the job.

Hey, is that knob about the size of a Pomelo, or a small watermelon? It looks huge.

Someone got a sweet well taken care of Tacoma
So I traded in my 2008 Tacoma for a 2020 model. Whoever bought mine sure got a truck that had been taken care of. The entire 14 1/2 years I owned it I only spent $350 on repairs!!! It needed a front hub after 10 years or so, the latch on the center console broke and I had to change out the blower resistor assembly. Everything else was maintenance except for a couple of recalls. The rear springs had been replaced 3 times under warranty/recall. I had a 2nd gear shutter and they said it was a loose u-joint but they don't change u-joints, we must replace the entire driveshaft. I paid $1385 for that repair but a few months later got a recall on said parts and I had dotted all my "i's" and crossed all my "t's" and sent in the information where I had the driveshaft replaced. Lo and behold a check for $1385 showed up.

I personally changed the oil, filter, and washer at 5K miles. I kept every washer in a zip lock bag. Did an extensive Maintenance record as well and when I traded in the truck I left the Maintenance record and the zip lock full of (49) washers to prove the oil had been changed regularly. I am hoping whoever bought the truck got to see all of that so they will have peace of mind about their new to them truck.

I’ve had trail rash on my fenders, doors and bed panels which 3M scratch remover works great other than the fender flares. I don’t recall who the member was here here but apparently there’s a conditioner/restorer for the fender flare material. I’ll see if I can locate it for you. My fender flares still have some trail rash but I was happy to eliminate the body trail rash and protect the clear coat. I’ll let you know when I find it.
