Never had to take my cats further than the vet. My ex let hers roam around the car on a road trip so they wouldnt get so stressed. One sat on her lap while she drove. From her experience it sounds like you want to think about what is going to keep them the least stressed. I probably wouldnt put them in the bed even with a cap, might try to make the back seat cozy them, folded down, with a litterbox secured down

My ex had cats (and dogs); we'd just crate them and put the crates in the rear. Summer months, just crack the windows for more air flow, winter months just leave them closed. No big deal, they made the trip from SC to Maryland several times with no problems.

If you think you may have to take them out of the crate anywhere that they could escape, i.e. prior to your destination, outside of a hotel room, etc., put a harness and leash on them before you stick them in the crate. Clip the end of the leash on to something outside of the crate so that you can be holding onto it when you open the door.

Windoors all the way. If you'll sleep in your shell, you're want sliding windoors. If not, go with the regular windoors.

I have leer 180 with sliding windoors and agree that they look kind funky, but the utility is there and I would do it the same if I had it to do over again.

ARE will sell me a standard glass windoor (no adventure/sliding option) for $400. Worth it for 1 side? I guess it depends on my use...

I ordered mine the opposite way. My thought process is that if I wanted to access the windoor when the truck was parked it would be on the side of the road out of traffic.

I totally get that, makes sense. I was thinking about this winter being parked against snowbanks and not climbing over snow to get to it. We’ll see how it goes

If I could do it again I would just order windoors on both sides. Maybe you want to change yours? Never mentioned is that the glass on the slider is 'wavy' and distorted. The glass on the windoor is perfectly smooth. I don't know who would notice it..but the slider glass is not very high quality from what I can see.

I did get the slider for camping though since I wanted to keep my options open. Other than the distorted glass the combo works well for me.

I should've ordered a windoor when I got my ARE years ago, but alas - did you contact ARE directly for a windoor replacment or was it through a distributor?

I called ARE, and they provided the closest dealer to call. I could have just done that myself but wanted to Make sure I couldn’t just buy it and install myself

Yeah that is what I was wanting to do, just skip the middle man. My dealer is an hour and a half away unfortunately. Thanks for the info!
