That’s what I figured. This happened on my parents Subaru about 14 years ago. 91 octane fixed it. Time for 91 in the truck I guess

Actually, since I literally have a 100% full tank atm, should I buy an octane boost and put a bottle of that in? Any brands you recommend?

No I don’t sorry. I mean a bit of pinging is normal, even mentions that in the owners manual. I’ve always used 91E0 since truck was new, now tuned for about 2 years and running 94E0, engine always ran great, not a single knock!

Hmmm I’m on an ov2.0 87 tune. I put 87 in it, always have. This fuel might have had 10% ethanol, can’t remember

I’m running SFOB 2.0, awesome tune. Tried on 91 E0 shell but chevron 94 E0 is the bomb.

Try some 91+ if your tune is octane learning, I think you will really like it.

Well I also noticed a missing bolt in my skid plate… dealership changed my oil yesterday… that could definitely be the cause of the rattle.

    Very well could be.

1 bolt on my skid was lose and it made a clicking noise when turning.

Haha! This is why I avoid dealerships at all costs, I only go for warranty work.

Literally says that this noise will happen under this condition in the owners manual.

Might try throwing a bottle of Techron in your gas every few fill-ups. I'm not sure if it's related but in the 15 years i've owned my 07 i've never heard the "taco tick" or pinging using 89 octane.

Yes its also more prevalent on hotter days, ive had it do it to me probably 10-15 times on a road trip up along a winding mountain road in 95 degree heat. Ive found that keeping revs up buy turning on ECT mode helps keep it away. The sound is just annoying tbh and i may run a tune, or may not. Winter is around the corner and I rarely drive the truck unless for long highway road trips so im not bothered enough…. Yet

Also if you really want to go nuts just open your hood and listen for all the other ticks this truck has to offer. Its like a mozart symphony under there.
