Topic says it all pretty much. At 6:15am, just before daybreak, I was driving my new 2022 SR5 4x4 when a 7 point buck jumped out in front of me so close that I barely got "F*C*!!" out of my mouth as I stomped the brakes, the tires only slid about 8 feet before I hit him. It pretty much destroyed the entire front end including the radiator.
I live in a small south GA town and within 3-4 minutes another truck made a U-turn to come back and ask if I wanted the deer, after he asked about our health of course. Wer helped load the deer up in his truck and called the law.
The deer died in under a minute or so and we didnt have to put him down. He was a big healthy young buck with a small rack.
Heres some pics of the damage

    Oh, dang!

Not too long ago...about a month ago...I had some morning deer cross my path. I was just beginning to accelerate and saw them in time to slow down.

I live near Dover proper in Camden-Wyoming with lots of areas that deer gather to cross the street at 5:45am.

Sorry you had this happen to you but it's not the end of the world.

Hope you are back on the streets with your repaired Tacoma sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the sympathy folks, its much appreciated. Im 53 years old and like most 53 year old men ive put countless thousands of miles behind me. Out of all those years of driving this is the first time ive hit a deer despite living in a rural area loaded with them.
As far as getting my truck repaired quickly it might not be all that quick. The first body shop in my insurance companies network would only take drive in vehicles and with my radiator gushing water its undriveable. The second in network shop will take it but not till the 19th of this month. So its going to sit for the next 12 days with nothing happening.
I was tempted to throw a new radiator in it and drive it to the first shop but decided there could be damage I cant see

I winged a bunny rabbit this morning about 6:40 am, but I was on my gixxer. We both survived.

Man bad luck OP. I can relate. Just hit a deer myself this evening. Like watching a slow motion train wreck with a front row seat.

just throw a radiator and expedite your repair process, unless if you have an extra vehicle you can drive in the mean time (the blue HRV?)

Tow to a dealer to replace the radiator...the rest is cosmetic

I hit a piece of junk on the 401 back in July. Took out the bumper, both passenger side lights, the grill, etc. The work order was four pages and $7,100. Out of service for six weeks -- '21 Double Cab TRD Off-Road, Super White. Thankfully, the insurance waived my $500 deductible.

Sorry for your misfortune. Important thing is you are ok. Look at the bright side, it was only a deer. I hit a moose!

Dude, that sucks. I got my truck 3 weeks ago and I was joking with my friends yesterday I should put it in a field like a decoy because I’m seeing so many deer and I keep having close calls. I had to come to a complete stop because a 8 and 4 point wouldn’t move. Hope you get it fixed soon man.
