I might be down for the end of the month. I don’t work Saturday or Sunday.

 

Lots of time with kids doing scout stuff and/or football for the boy this month.. but I get y'all on that.

 

I too would be interested in an end of month meetup

Just be careful with October trail runs… lots of hunters out and about

Damn, Browns is a haul for me. I live in Bend. LMK when we get a meet scheduled at hood or santiam.

 

So far not many have expressed an interest in attending this meet up. If @th3clara would be down with Post Canyon OHV I would be down to do that instead so you can make it out. That is just outside of Hood River, in case you are not familiar. Perhaps that would bring more people out.

 

I’m sure some people would be willing to spend a weekend over there camping and wheeling if it was nice and planned

 

Maybe @FashTaco could help plan it also

Well it seems I have to work this weekend. Going to have to cancel the meet up

 

Approaching a month out before our due date so I can’t skedaddle too far for too long out of service lol.

 

I am in the same boat. Wife is due Nov 9th. She was nice enough to let me go to Browns Camp for a few hours this past Sunday, and she said I need to be done off-roading for the rest of this year ^__^

 

I wasn’t saying it needed to be soon but maybe something on your side would be fun

 

Quick write up on Edison Butte OHV, which is at the base of Mt Bachelor, in Bend Oregon. I checked out this trail system last month, but couldn’t find much info on the difficulty level other than a few YouTube clips. Figured others may be interested in checking it out this area.

I started at the Snow-park lot, and did all of trail #4, working counter clockwise around the loop. I colored the trail map below with blue/black, to indicate which sections were difficult vs moderate.

It took me 4 hours to complete 8 miles of trail, and then 30 mins of gravel road to make it back to the hwy. Most of the trail is moderate (in terms of Browns Camp ranking system), with a few sections being difficult. The difficult sections do not have bypasses, contain decent sized obstacles, and have a lot of sharp lava rock.

I would highly recommend full steel skids, and rock sliders for this trail. I took a lot of paint off my skids/sliders, and was dragging myself over a couple of obstacles.

The trail is decently marked for the first 4 miles, with arrows nailed to the trees. Mile 5-6 was hard to follow, and I was getting out frequently to walk ahead and make sure I was still going the right way. Some of the difficulty is that fallen trees have forced people to cut bypasses that deviate from the marked arrows.

Did not have a chance to check out trail #3. Would love to hear what that one is like if anyone has completed it.

 

dude message me if you wanna go run #3, the same loop, or another trail in the DNF! I’m usually down for a trail run on the weekends! We moved to central Oregon a few months ago and I’m trying to meet some guys to wheel with

 

Wonder what this road to kinzel lake would be like with the current snow fall? Wanted to do Bennett Pass before the snow came, but that ship seems to have sailed.
