    Hello, Folks,

Here's one for the stupid question department... We (my partner and I) purchased a used '05 Tacoma about four years ago. I'm in the midst of fixing some stuff that I never got to when we bought it.

On the inside of the passenger cabin, at the base of the rear window - passenger's side - is a mysterious anchor of some sort. In mine, the trim and/or cover is missing, and I'd like to find a replacement trim/cover and install it.

The trouble is... damned if I can find anything about what it is, let alone find a replacement. My best guess is that it's the top tether anchor for a child seat, but searching anything with those words on google or youtube yields nothing instructive, with or without including the word(s) "2005 Tacoma."

Any help naming or describing the use of this bracket and the names of some salvage yards where one could find replacement beige cover/trim would be great.

    Thank you!

A picture would help a lot.

I looked at the diagrams online with no luck.
I’ll have to look at my truck tomorrow and see what OP is talking about.

Tried to add a photo before, but it didn't work. I'll try again.

Do you have a 5 lug?

    Or the convenience utility package?

Pouring over the parts diagrams and I can find the back seat panel but I don't see any headrest holes implying you don't have back seats.

That's definitely the top rear child seat anchor point though.

Problem I'm running into is the schematic shown for the backboard for 2005 isn't, these are the 2009+ seats shown:

The early access cabs had these seats but the backboard isn't shown in the schematic for the correct seats.

Either way the only place you'll get that cover is from the dealer or a junkyard in either case you won't need the P/N at a dealer just show them that picture and they'll be able to pull it up in EPC, otherwise at a yard well you know where to find it but again you'll have to limit your search to 2005-07 ish IIRC.

Does a modern baby seat even fit in the access cab back seat?

A forward facing seat probably will. If the front seats are not adjusted too far back.

But yes, those are for baby seats.

Yes. I had to remove the flip down headrest to make it work, and choose my car seat carefully, but it is possible. Why Toyota decided to place the child seat anchor on the drivers side where the child has to get out on the traffic side instead of the curb side is beyond me. They should have made a spot in the center of the rear access cab for a child seat. It would have made the most sense for many reasons.

On my street, the right side IS the curb side. See my avatar, or whatever it is.
