Hi all...as usual you are so helpful with your comments and knowkedge. I own a 2017 tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4 access cab. My current issue is the following:

I am sitting in my car idling. When I turn the steering wheel right or left, I hear a low volume squeak. I also hear this squeak when I am driving and turn the steering wheel left or right as when making a left or right turn. I removed a plastic housing that covers the steering column going thru the firewall. I then sprayed white lithium grease in that area...I still hear that squeak. Any suggestions or comments or solutions?

    Thanks in advance.

You have OEM upper control arms? I replaced mine and they had the same issue, come to find out I just needed to lube the ball joints

does it come front the back of the steering wheel or outside near the wheels?

Hi odinsbro15: Thanks for your reply. The squeak comes from when I am in the truck. As I mentioned, I hear the squeak when I am inside the cab and turn the steering wheel right or left whether I am idling or making right or left hand turns. There is no squeak when not turning the steering wheel. I do not hear a squeak outside near the wheels. The squeak itself is not loud but is very soft and low volumn.
Any further thoughts or comments? Thanks again.

this is similar to something i had. i would check for rub between the steering wheel plastics as well as apply a little lubricant to the steering shaft. mine has gone away for the most part

Thanks again...I reapplied lubricant to the steering shaft after I removed the cover and then applied lubricant to areas where the steering wheel turns and or rubs. I will now see if that helps. I will reply in a couple days to see what happens. Thanks again.

The squeak, for the most part, has gone away. I do believe the squeak was coming from the steering shaft...it's just a matter of getting the lubricant to the squeak area. Thanks for your assistance everyone.
