Hey guys I had my tpms light go off a couple weeks ago. I checked the tires and they were fine so I just thought the batteries were going out on them. But I noticed while I was driving on the highway today the light went off. I didn’t air the tires or anything. Wondering why the light will stay on for 2 weeks and than all of a sudden go off?

Weak batteries or temp drops at night. Check pressure in the morning to see what they are dropping to.

Tire pressure will increase 3-5 PSI as you drive them. At this time of year they will drop 3-5 PSI in cold morning air compared to hotter afternoon temps. There could be as much as 10 PSI between when you start the truck and after driving a while after the air temp increases by 30-40 degrees in the afternoon. This is pretty common in the fall when morning temps are cool, but it still gets hotter later in the day.

Most of the TPMS monitors last 7-10 years and occasionally as much as 12-14 years. Your 2014 is approaching 9 years old. I'd advise installing new sensors when you buy your next set of tires. You can pick them up aftermarket for $15-$25 each and there is no additional charge to install them at the same time you are getting new tires mounted.

I removed the dash cluster, and took out the tpms light bulb. Problem solved. I have 2 sets of rims and do pressure checks regularly.

Mine has been on for so long (no sensors in a newer set of Toyota wheels), I’ve learned to tune it out and do manual checks on a regular basis.

I think what Marshall and Bishop said is what happened, the change in the temps did it. I guess the good news is my batteries aren’t dead just yet. Thanks for the reply guys!
