Was at Costco recently and miss the 'Polish dog' option at the food court.

 

Why some people call them "Glizzys"?

 

Sounds like it is some DC thing. The same folks that can never seem to make a decent pizza.

Here in the Bay Area we have Caspers. They have a great cheese dog. Proprietary blend dog (don't know what's in it but it's delicious). Mustard, relish, big 'ol slice of onion and tomato covered in shredded cheddar. Now Caspers is not to be confused with Kaspers. Two brothers who couldn't do business together, split up and are in competition with each other lol. True story.

I remember it being across the street from a small cemetary in the city.

They had hot dogs and burgers and I remember ordering a hot dog with crazy bacon and cheese; they marinate their bacon in soy sauce and something else and use a bit of brown sugar. Fuck I remember it being delicious.

 

But have you heard of a Blizzy Glizzy?

 

Frank's Famous in San Luis Obispo, CA where "BIG WEENIES ARE BETTER!"

My entire college days in the mid to late 80's were spent pretty much daily wearing a Frank's T-shirt with that saying on the pocket. They were always the best T's you could get of that era, Hanes Beefy Tees when they were good. Only $5 a copy. A guy could live with a new wardrobe at those prices! Damned good dogs as well as burgers. Still in business today and was a family business since the 70's until the son finally decided to sell after running it well for a decade or more. Sold it to the real nice Mexican dude that was the cook for decades and he still owns it today, gray hair and all.

 

Yum, Gulla Hot Dogs in Bellaire Ohio This place has been making hot dogs since the 1960s with their special sauce, onions and mustard. Back in 1968 my dad would take us there when it used to be Dossie's every Friday after work. When Gulla eventually took over nothing changed with the special sauce which is what made their hot dogs so good. It's amazing that this place is still there when you see the devastation all up and down the Ohio Valley from an economy that never recovered when the steel mills, glass industry and coal mines closed. It's been a long 50-year decline but Gullas is still there.

 

There used to be this place that only hired convicted criminals.

 

That's actually pretty dope, give guys a chance at breaking the cycle.

 

The worst hot god I ever had, outside of a 7-11 dog that'd been cooking all day, was a Chicago Dog in Chicago. I couldn't get past the neon green relish. As a pepper person, the peppers weren't my taste pallets style and, not baggin' but it was a Nathan's dog. Weird but I got west coast tastes I guess?

 

Don’t think I’ve had a hotdog in a few months that I can remember.

my last one I had was on vacation a few months ago in Big Sur (Ragged point i think) a bacon wrapped hotdog in a brioche bun with some hot sauce. It was amazing. I tried to go back for a 3rd but my wife didn’t want me to ruin my appetite (we had dinner reservations in a few hours). I still think about that dog
