Ford just increased the Lightning Pro price again. Pretty much negates any fuel savings.
    From Motortrend:
The Pro is the only model affected by the new pricing, which lofts the truck's price from its initial—and staggering—price of just $41,769, later upped to $48,769, to $53,769. Doing the math for you, that's a $12,000 increase over the original Pro's price, and a $5,000 increase over the adjusted price announced in August; nor does it include the $500 Mobile Power Cord, if you wanted that as an option. Of course, any AC EV charger with a J1772 connector will work with the Lighting Pro to charge it on AC power, so even though Ford's online build-your-own configurator seems to automatically include the Power Cord it's not strictly necessary. Lightning XLTs continue to run $61,269 in standard range form and $82,769 in extended range guise; Lariats are $76,269-$87,769 depending on battery size, and the Platinum (extended range-only) is a heart-stopping $98,669.

And for those of us that don’t like to plan and have a bad case of wanderlust? :)

Yeah they are cool, but the more I see them…the more I am thinking “meh”. For $100K vehicle it sure has its limits. At least for what I want out of vehicle. Don’t really give a shit about 0-60 times or drag races. I drive slow and enjoy the scenery….give me a shit load of range instead so I don’t have to worry when I am bounding about without much a care in the world. I am super envious of Tim’s diesel LC with a 1000 mile range. Be so nice not having to stop so much when traveling. https://www.dirtsunrise.com/post/truck-tour-dusty

Thinking they are just another look at me status symbol. Not unlike a Raptor, TRX, jacked up diesel bro dozer, or similar…hey nice truck! So sorry about your penis…

Yeh, same. I'd rather have better range if I had to sacrifice it for speed. Been there, done that.

I think I saw an Ioniq 5 overlander the other day. Lift AT tires and roof rack.

For $100k it would be a hard pass from me. For $66k I’m ok with it to see how it goes. I did try to get the license plate LTL DCK for my TRX but the state said no.

The R1S is the only model I would be slightly interested in, as that tiny bed of the truck is all about fucking useless. They are close to $100K OTD. Even at $66K, it is a “meh” for me. Give me a 1 Tonner i can actually haul and tow something and don’t have to stop every 150 miles to juice it. Sounds like a real pain in the fucking ass for the coin.

Yeah sorry dude, when I see Raptors, or TRXs, etc. just think the owner is an attention whore. I mean those trucks are fairly useless on the street and even more pitiful off-road. I have been in trophy trucks. So don’t see the point of Raptors or TRXs… just my opinion, some guys will agree with me, some won’t.

I was in Hood River, stopped at hotel parking lot, checking my messages after coming down off the mountain. There was a Rivian sitting in the parking lot, people were gathered around taking pictures, the owner was showing them around it, he was totally eating it up. People could give two shits about my Tacoma, I liked that…

Yeah all that torque and power is cool for YouTube videos…but really how is that practical for street use? Hell, I don’t even use all my Tacomas power… not even close. Gotta laugh at the guys on here who piss and moan about how underpowered it is.

I like fast cars but need a truck, not a lot of options out there. The Tacoma has no balls at all, especially when living at 6000’. The TRX fits the bill for being fast and fun to drive while also being able to tow, haul stuff in the bed, go off-road, etc. I wouldn’t pay full price and definitely not any dealer add-ons for the TRX just like I won’t for a Rivian.

Ideally I’d have a beater POS truck to off-road, a 2500/3500 to tow, a Porsche for fun and a Corolla for a daily but I can’t do that with my life/job currently.

Could care less about fast cars and trucks. Did that bullshit when I was younger and paid the price. Now I go the speed limit, if the attention whores behind me in their Viagra mobiles get bent out of shape, fuck ‘em. I save the speed needs for the dirt bike, only person I am going hurt is usually myself. Trying to go fast on the street I find to be bullshit.

There’s a difference between fast and quick. I don’t speed, did that plenty when I was younger and dumber. The TRX and Tacoma can both go just as fast, the TRX just gets up to any speed effortlessly whether it is empty or towing at full capacity. It never struggles with power to do anything which the Tacoma does quite often.

The Rivian build quality is absolutely amazingly bad.
The body gapping is atrocious, some gaps will be as tight as 1/8" others will be as big as 3/4" and/or not level, like one panel will stick up over the other. The paint has crazy orange peal and is very thin. The interior is terribly plastic and everything squeeks. Many owners also have had numbers of problems with the tailgate, problems with the power tonneau, suspension clunking, drivetrain clicking/vibrations, even water leaking water around the windshield down through the dash board.

There are also tear down videos you can find the Rivian has pretty fucked harnessing. At one point the run it through sheet steel with no grommet or chafe protection, some places it makes tight bends, and some of the components that need to be serviced (like the fuse that turns the car off after a collision) require disassembling the entire dashboard.

Also imagine how fast that thing has to eat tires with how much it weighs. Even if you can get past how it looks I think the brand is still to baby to buy IMO.

Have been all over the West and Colorado in my old trucks, the ‘85 Runner and the ‘92 pickup with the 22R with a whole whopping 116 HP. As I said a before not much in hurry and haven’t been for awhile. My new Taco feels like a rocketship compared to those, cruises effortlessly at whatever the speed limit is, perfectly ok with that. Stick to back roads and avoid the interstate like the plague, though it cruises at 80 no problem. Some guys need more, I sure don’t.

Have my reasons for not speeding, too many tickets…suspended license for drag racing my muscle cars. One of my friends was also racing another night in a ‘70 Chevelle, hit the median at 90, flipped the car, no one was wearing seatbelts, decapitated one of our friends, the driver went to jail for vehicular manslaughter. Yeah, I am fine with going slow.

Not into show boating, and like stealth. View those bro-dozers like Harley guys dressing like pirates and revving their engines at stoplight’s. They think they are cool, while most of the rest of us think they are dorks. Though… I am sure plenty of people make fun of me going painfully slow to them in my chick truck.

I was just reading about that on a Rivian forum. Sounds like the service centers have been getting the torque check knocked out in the parking lots. Takes about ten minutes total time from pulling into the parking lot and departing with never getting out of the vehicle. Not a good issue to potentially have but a quick and simple process to get resolved or fix yourself if not near enough to a service center.

Seems like they're on it pretty good. They expect 30 days turnaround for all to be completed if possible.

Seems a hell of a lot faster than a fuel pump recall.

That’s 1 of 13,000. I like how you presume the only time a fuel pump can fail is when it is convenient.

    Toyota went through that too.

Effected Tacomas, 4Runners, and 1st Gen Tundras at the time. As they say, “if it has tits or wheels it is gonna give ya trouble!”

It’s easy when it’s just a retorque, an absolute shitshow if it backs off on you and the wheel falls flat to the road.
