Hope this is in the right thread. Couldn't find a post that sounded like my issue but if someone could help me out or point in the right direction. I have a 97 v6 4x4 manual transmission that I've had for 6 months or so. Had no ignition trouble at all since I got it. Today I went to leave work and it would not start. I have dash lights but no crank at all. Battery has 12 volts all the way to the starter. I was running behind and didn't have long to check it out but all my fuses are good and I tried tapping on the starter relay and still nothing. I don't think it's my clutch switch because when the clutch is depressed and I turn the key I get a clicking/buzzing from in the steering column or under dash somewhere but definitely on cab side of firewall and I do not get anything when the clutch is not pressed. I picked a starter relay tonight and will try jumping it and then the relay tomorrow morning unless someone can point me in another direction. I think it possibly could be a loose connection in the steering column somewhere because of the clicking/buzzing but I didn't have time to tear into today. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

And also, check your battery terminal connections. I had a loose negative once and had your symptoms.

Was it just 12 or closer to 12.7+? What about when trying to start it? Drop below 10? How old is the batt?

Like mentioned above, definitely check your terminals. My $ is on the batt.

Sounds like battery. 12 volt is a dead battery. Clicking while cranking is common sign of battery issues.

Wonder if it'll jump start.....if so might somehow check ignition switch...

Mines throwing the am2(ignition) fuse, and that switch is only thing I cant visually verify......
failure maybe irregular and intermittent....hard to stress test.....

may gamble and buy new one......
if its not oem......it maybe crap......

theres a 30amp fuse and 7.5 amp mini fuse......not sure which is going thru that switch.......
