Is either one available? Are OEM replacements available? Are there actual quality aftermarket offerings made? If so, what's your take on how they compare quality-wise one to the other?
Sure would appreciate this info and where to order from. My 2012 2.7L Prerunners wiring harness is quite brittle after going on 250K hot Texas miles.

    Many thanks, REP

Aftermarket may be preferable if it's not soy based, starve the rodents I say.

I've never seen where anyone makes an aftermarket harness for anything other than vintage vehicles and new factory harnesses are typically pretty pricey.

What's wrong with your harness? They typically last the life of the vehicle unless they get saturated with oil, get against the exhaust, or get damaged by rodent's.
If it's just the outer covering that's coming apart you can redo that fairly easily.

I cringe at the thought of an aftermarket harness.
Aftermarket parts these days tend to be horrible in quality.
I wouldn’t have the patience to diag all the potential problems I see there. And that’s if the connectors actually fit.

I’d try to repair the one I had first.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
I’m really curious to wtf would you need to replace your harness. Cheers!

I've yet to see an aftermarket complete harness for a modern vehicle, there are aftermarket pigtails available for certain connectors and sometimes certain sub-harnesses are available but not whole harnesses.

Is the wiring itself brittle ? Id be surprised if it is. The outer covering "wire loom" does get brittle over time, but that can be replaced by itself if you so desire.

Maybe a used OEM harness is the way to go. Try your local salvage yard or even ebay to save time.

The avoidance of the actual question and expressed curiosity leads me to offer this information before someone blows a gasket. I am enquiring in preparation for a total cost engine swap in my 12 Prerunner. My harness is in fair shape for a nearly 250K truck. But if the numbers were to support the effort, and I end up doing the swap. I would like this information to consider as a possible resource. Get that Mr. WTF?
