So I’ve installed the base unit, neatly run my wires, installed the antenna, and wanted to place the face plate as seen in the picture. I tried some heavy 3m tape so I could see how I like the location before drilling… but it’s a no go. If I drill the bracket for the face plate to the location in the picture will I kill the switches above it? Also, anyone have an alternative idea?

There is clearance for some shallow screws if you move it a little deeper. I had a midland unit mounted there in my old truck.

Best way to make sure you don’t hit a switch is pull that plastic trim but it’s a major pain in the butt to remove since it requires removing just about everything else around it first.

You could also pull the blank cover carefully then carefully pop the adjacent switches out so you can see what you are doing through the holes.

Happy to say that after routing all the wires etc etc… finally got all the correct cables for the SWR meter and tested on Channel 16 and up, with a near perfect SWR of 1.1. Very happy with the results
